Spam Filters
What is an e-mail spam filter? How does one function? How do you enable spam filtering?
An email filter is a software app that runs on a POP3/IMAP mail server and ‘scans’ all incoming emails to hinder any unwanted ones from reaching a given mailbox. Several instances of such email messages would be: offers for pills or cash, false bank statements or attachments that contain malicious software sent with the intention of infecting your computer. Spam filters typically check the content of an email and when they come across some keywords or other dubious content, they either erase the email message or re-send it to the Spam/Junk folder instead of the Inbox folder. Certain web hosting companies combine their own spam filters with up-to-date databases from spam-tracking organizations, so as to ensure better security for their clients. Such databases contain patterns, email server IP addresses and other info about spam email messages recently detected by these organizations.

Spam Filters in Website Hosting
If you order a website hosting package from us and if you take advantage of our email services, you will be able to set up spam filters for any of the email accounts that you set up from the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With just several clicks, you can pick between five separate levels of protection. In case you start receiving spam, you can begin with the lowest level and then gradually increase the level till you stop receiving spam. We use one of the best and most famous filters available on the market called SpamAssassin. It analyzes the header section and the body of each and every email message that you receive and calculates a spam score, based on which it either deletes a given email message or allows it to reach your mailbox. Hepsia will also allow you to create custom email filters and either get rid of unsolicited emails or send them to a 3rd-party address such as spam@domain.com where you can check them once more after that.
- Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you decide to use the mail service that comes with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting plans, you can keep all unwelcome email messages away from your inbox by enabling the 5-level spam protection that we offer with every semi-dedicated package. This can be accomplished via the feature-stuffed Email Manager section of the hosting Control Panel and we employ the powerful SpamAssassin spam filter to make sure that we offer the very best possible security for our clients. You can have a different protection level for each email account and you can select whether the filtered messages should be deleted or delivered to some other email account where you can examine them at a later time so as to make certain that you will not lose legitimate email messages. Changing the level or disabling the anti-spam protection is also easy and requires a few clicks. - Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Servers
