CNAME Record
Does your site call for the use of CNAME records? What exactly are CNAME Records? How to create one?
There are various ways to point a domain address to another domain or subdomain and one of them is by creating a CNAME record. In case you own a domain name and you've created a site using some on-line service that provides you with a service subdomain, you can easily link the two by creating a CNAME record for your-domain.com that points to subdomain.provider.com. What you're going to achieve in this way is that www.your-domain.com is going to be in the web browser address bar while it opens the already mentioned Internet site from the servers of the third-party company. It is essential to know that if you set up a CNAME record, any other records your domain may have will stop functioning, so you cannot have both a CNAME record pointing to one provider and functioning e-mail address with another. The CNAME record is always an alpha string, not a number, and in some cases further configuration may be needed with the other provider.

CNAME Records in Website Hosting
If you have a website hosting plan through our company and you wish to set up a CNAME record, it will take you only a few mouse clicks to make it happen. You can access the DNS records for all domain names and subdomains hosted within your account from the Hepsia Control Panel offered with each plan and adding a new record is as easy as clicking on a button, selecting the type, which is CNAME in this case, entering the actual record value and saving the change. If you have never added such a record before, we have a Help section with a detailed video tutorial which you can watch, or you can just contact us and we will assist you with this task. If you have set up a site through another provider, you want to use a private URL for your webmail or you wish to designate a subdomain to be used with the services of a different company, for instance Google Apps, all it takes is creating a CNAME record with a couple of mouse clicks inside your Control Panel.
- CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with every single one of our semi-dedicated server accounts, will allow you to set up a CNAME record easily. Whether you want to create a private URL for your e-mails, to forward a domain to a subdomain within the account or to forward a domain name to another company and use some third-party service which they provide, it will not require more than three mouse clicks to create this type of record. All DNS records for the domains and subdomains hosted within the semi-dedicated account will be listed in a separate section in the Control Panel, so once you are there, all you will have to do will be to choose the type of the record that you want to create and the hostname for which you are creating it, and then type in the actual record text. For your benefit, you can watch a short video inside the CP concerning how to set up a CNAME record or you can refer to the instructions in the help article, that is available in the DNS records section. - CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
