IP Blocking
What is IP blocking and what does it mean for site visitors? In which cases is it helpful?
Occasionally you may have to block specific third parties from accessing your websites. There are plenty of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for instance, and produce fake visits and site traffic. In addition, there are spammers who leave links to shady Internet sites as comments to site articles. This kind of things could drastically undermine your hard work, because no one likes to visit an Internet site with many fake comments, not to mention that the increased traffic from both spammers and bots may generate high load on the server in which your site is hosted, which may result in the site not functioning properly. One of the best solutions in such a case is to block the IP addresses that create the fake traffic, in order to make certain that the visits to your website are authentic.

IP Blocking in Website Hosting
If you order a Linux website hosting plan from us, you will be able to see in depth traffic statistics for all your sites and if you notice that a large amount of the visits to each of them aren't authentic, you can block the IP addresses which have produced the most traffic using our IP Blocking tool. The interface is quite simple - choose the needed domain or subdomain from a drop-down list, then type in the IP address that you'd like to block and save the change. All of the addresses which you have blacklisted shall appear in the very same section of the Control Panel, so you're able to always remove any of them and enable it to access your website again. You are able to block whole IP ranges via the tool too - you just have to leave one or two octets from the address blank. For instance, entering 1.2.3. will block all 254 IPs from 1.2.3.1 to 1.2.3.255.
- IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting CP, offered with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting plans, will enable you to solve the matter with unwanted traffic very efficiently. It comes with an IP blocking tool in which you can add IP addresses with a couple of mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains you have within the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just have to choose the one you need and then input the IP address that has to be blocked. If you wish to block an entire range, a C-class network for instance, you simply need to input the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. This shall block all 254 addresses, so you will not have to type them by hand. As all the IPs you include in this section will be listed, you may quickly unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button related to the given IP. - IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
