DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is a validation system used to check that an email message has been sent by an authenticated server or person. A digital signature is added to the header of the email by using a private encryption key. When the email is received, a public key that is available in the global Domain Name System is used to confirm who actually sent it and whether its content has been modified in some way. The principal job of DKIM is to prevent the widespread spam and scam email messages, as it makes it impossible to forge an email address. If an email message is sent from an email address claiming to belong to your bank or financial institution, for instance, but the signature does not correspond, you will either not get the email message at all, or you will get it with a warning alert that most likely it is not a legitimate one. It depends on email service providers what exactly will happen with an email which fails to pass the signature test. DKIM will also supply you with an extra layer of safety when you communicate with your business associates, for instance, since they can see for themselves that all the e-mails that you send are genuine and haven’t been tampered with in the meantime.
DomainKeys Identified Mail in Website Hosting
The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is pre-enabled for all domain names that are hosted in a website hosting account on our cloud servers, so you will not need to do anything yourself to enable it. The sole condition is that the given domain name should be hosted in a web hosting account on our end using our NS and MX records, so that the e-mails will go through our email servers. The private key will be created on the server and the TXT record, which includes the public key, will be published to the Domain Name System automatically, so you will not need to do anything manually on your end in order to activate this option. The DKIM email validation system will allow you to send trustworthy email messages, so if you are sending offers or a newsletter to customers, for example, your email messages will always reach their target destination, whereas unauthorized 3rd parties won’t be able to spoof your email addresses.
DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Servers
The DomainKeys Identified Mail protection service is offered by default with any domain name that’s registered through a semi-dedicated server account with our company. The domain should also use our name servers, so that its DNS records are handled by our platform. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT record to be created, which is in fact the public key that verifies if a certain message is legitimate or not. Such a record is set up when a domain name is registered in an account via the Hepsia Control Panel and in the meantime, a private key is created on our mail servers. If you make use of our web and email hosting services, your emails will always reach their target readers and you won’t have to worry about unauthorized individuals using your email addresses for spamming or scamming purposes, which is something very important if you use emails to communicate with your business partners.
