Every desktop or notebook or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which communicates with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, and any apps that are present on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, any app runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, which means that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We offer you three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs out there and we provide all 3 instead of only one since we realize that you might want to set up some software with specific requirements regarding the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there are various software packages you may install on the web hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you wish to use one and that's why we offer several Control Panels as well. Should you decide that you need to have some other OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you need. In addition, we offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
If you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on your machine as different apps may have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and enjoy a reliable and risk-free hosting service. Based on your selection, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected initially doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you would like to run. We can also upgrade the OS regularly in order to keep it as risk-free as possible with our Managed Services upgrade package.
