No Data Corruption & Data Integrity
Discover what ‘No Data Corruption & Data Integrity’ means for the data inside your web hosting account.
Data corruption is the damage of data due to various software or hardware fails. After a file is damaged, it will no longer function as it should, so an app will not start or shall give errors, a text file can be partially or entirely unreadable, an archive will be impossible to open then unpack, etc. Silent data corruption is the process of data getting harmed without any identification by the system or an administrator, that makes it a significant problem for web hosting servers as failures are very likely to occur on larger in size hard disks where considerable volumes of information are kept. When a drive is part of a RAID and the data on it is duplicated on other drives for redundancy, it is very likely that the bad file will be treated as a healthy one and it'll be duplicated on all of the drives, making the damage permanent. A huge number of the file systems which operate on web servers these days often are not able to detect corrupted files instantly or they need time-consuming system checks during which the server is not operational.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Web Hosting
If you host your websites in a
web hosting account with our firm, you don't have to worry about your data ever getting corrupted. We can ensure that due to the fact that our cloud hosting platform uses the leading-edge ZFS file system. The latter is the only file system that works with checksums, or unique digital fingerprints, for each and every file. All of the info that you upload will be kept in a RAID i.e. simultaneously on a large number of SSD drives. All file systems synchronize the files between the different drives with such a setup, but there's no real warranty that a file won't be corrupted. This may happen throughout the writing process on each drive and after that a damaged copy may be copied on the other drives. What is different on our platform is the fact that ZFS examines the checksums of all files on all drives instantly and if a corrupted file is identified, it is substituted with a good copy with the correct checksum from some other drive. By doing this, your information will continue to be intact no matter what, even if a whole drive fails.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Servers
In case you acquire one of our
semi-dedicated server plans, you will not have to be concerned about silent data corruption as we use ZFS - an advanced file system which keeps track of all of the files in real time. Each time you upload a file to your account, ZFS will assign a unique digital fingerprint to it - the so-called checksum. This file will be synced between a couple of SSD drives for redundancy, so if one drive fails, the other ones will take over. ZFS compares the checksum of all copies on the different drives and when it detects a corrupted copy, it replaces it with a healthy one from a different drive. This happens instantly, so there will be no threat for any part of your content at any time. In comparison, alternative file systems perform checks only after a system failure, but since they do not use anything similar to the checksums which ZFS uses, they cannot detect silently corrupted files, so a bad copy could be replicated on the remaining disks as well and you can lose precious info. Since this isn't the case with ZFS, we are able to warrant the integrity of each file you upload no matter what.
